We want to share an update from our wholesale power provider, Great River Energy (GRE), regarding the tariff news.
Canada has now initiated new federal tariffs on Canadian imports (25%) and natural gas, oil, and electricity (10%).
Thanks to its diverse Midwest-based energy portfolio, GRE expects little impact on electric costs or reliability. In 2024, only 2% of GRE’s energy came from Manitoba Hydro, and MISO, which oversees the regional grid, sourced less than 1% from Canada—about one power plant’s worth.
We’re closely monitoring this evolving situation and will keep you updated via our newsletter, website, and Facebook page.
